Giulio Catelli was born in Rome in 1982, where he lives and works. After earning his bachelor’s degree in Historical-Artistic Studies at La Sapienza University of Rome, he attended a two-year specialization course in painting at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Macerata.

In July 2011, he took part in an artistic exchange project between China and Italy organized by the Hangzhou Cultural Brand Promotion Organization. The following year, he was invited to a workshop by the Cafer Sadik Abalioglu Education and Culture Foundation in Denizli (Turkey). On the recommendation of Vittorio Sgarbi, he participated in the Italian Pavilion for the 150th anniversary of Italy’s unification, representing Lazio at the 54th Venice Biennale, Rome 2011.

In 2013, he organized a solo exhibition at the City of Ravenna Art Museum as the winner of the 57th Premio Marina di Ravenna; the following year, he was awarded second prize for etching in the Premio Cento Amici del Libro (Galleria L’Originale, Milan). In 2016, he received the G. B. Salvi Award – 66th edition. In 2017, he took part in the Landina painting residency, curated by Lorenza Boisi in the Verbania area.
